Ukraine’s honey is its sweet pride. This country is the largest producer of honey in Europe and the third largest in the world. Ukraine is the fifth largest global exporter of honey. Over the past 10 years, exports have increased by amazing seven times in volume!

WE ARE EUROPE’S №1 HONEY PRODUCER, WORLD’S №3 PRODUCER AND №5 EXPORTER

Currently, Ukraine’s share in global exports is about 7 percent but Ukrainian honey export supplies are still rapidly increasing. Along with that, there is a strong potential for further growth as Ukraine collects no more than 15-20 percent of honey from already existing crops, according to experts.

WHAT MAKES UKRAINIAN HONEY SO UNIQUE?

Genuine Honey Types

Most of the territory of Ukraine is a steppe with vast fields of various agricultural crops and native grasses. Ukrainian beekeepers collect honey produced from many kinds of plants: from fragrant wild meadow and forest flowers and to large variety of agricultural crops: acacia, linden, buckwheat, rapeseed, and sunflower.

Sunflower honey is undoubtedly a distinguishing feature of Ukraine. By the way, Ukraine is the largest producer of sunflower seeds in the world harvesting this crop from about 6.5 million hectares annually. Ukrainian sunflower honey is a perfect ingredient for the production of various types of confectionery and bakery products due to its light, neutral taste and color.

Proven Quality

Ukrainian suppliers confirm high quality of their honey and its compliance with the international safety and quality requirements in world’s renowned laboratories such as Intertek, QSI, and Eurofins. Ukraine exports honey to such demanding and hard-to-enter markets as the EU, the USA, and Japan.

Traditions of Sustainable Beekeeping

Ukraine is the birthplace of rational beekeeping. Petro Prokopovych, a Ukrainian beekeeper, invented the world’s first frame hive in 1814. He developed beekeeping methods so that they allowed the least disturbance and damage to bees – most important pollinators of food crops.

Today, over 400 thousand people are engaged in beekeeping in Ukraine, most of them preserving the production traditions that allow bees live their natural lifestyle only slightly modified for production purposes. By choosing Ukrainian honey you choose to support sustainable honey production.
