During World of Perishables 2019 in Dubai, Ukrainian berry producer and exporter LLC Nikdariya LLC (TM iBerry) and one of the largest importers of fresh fruits in the Persian Gulf Farzana Trading from UAE signed a contract on regular blueberry air deliveries from Ukraine during the season of 2020.
Earlier, Nikdaria LLC and Ukrainian International Airlines (UIA) signed an agreement, which made it possible. UIA guaranteed cargo transportation and a special flight plan for the Kyiv-Dubai route in 2020.
According to Yevgen Harlan, Director of Development and Strategy at Nikdaria LLC, this is a big step for the berry industry: “For the first time, blueberry of Ukrainian origin will be supplied on a regular weekly basis throughout the whole season. The products will be shipped under the national branding and will have a clear definition of the country of origin. This is an important milestone in the promotion of Ukraine as an essential supplier of fresh fruits and berries of premium quality.”
According to Nikdaria LLC, this agreement is the result of the trade mission Fruit Trade Ukraine – Middle East, organized by the Ukrainian Horticultural Association (UHA) with the support of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and EU4Business.
Nikdariya LLC (TM iBerry) is one of the most innovative berry farms in Ukraine, growing blueberries, strawberries, honeysuckle, and asparagus.
