Exports of frozen vegetables from Ukraine reached 1.5 thousand tonnes in November 2019, an increase of 31% compared to the same month of the previous year and 52% compared with last month.
The primary raw materials for vegetable freezers were broccoli, cauliflower, sweet pepper, green peas, and sugar corn. Also, the production of frozen onions for export to the EU countries has been very active in recent years in Ukraine.
The main difference between selling vegetables for freezing and selling them to the fresh market is the ability to sell much larger quantities of produce. That is, when focusing production on freezing, the vegetable grower has the opportunity to grow vegetables on an industrial scale.
The world leader in selling frozen vegetables and potatoes is Belgium, exporting over 1.3 million tonnes. China, Spain, and Poland are also on top in this category.
